Goat Valley
The Goat Valley Initiative was launched in 2022 as a cluster-based model for sustainable livestock entrepreneurship in Uttarakhand. Its objectives include establishing Goat Valleys as clusters for organized goat farming, promoting youth self-employment, transforming traditional goat farming into profit-oriented enterprises, and organizing the sector to enhance year-round livelihood opportunities for farmers. This initiative brings together various schemes, such as the District Goat Rearing Program, State Goat Rearing Program, NCDC Loan, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Loan, and REAP to develop dedicated goat-saturated zones in each district. Beneficiaries are selected by a block-level committee after scrutinizing applications submitted through the Apuni Sarkar portal(https://eservices.uk.gov.in/ ). Each beneficiary establishes a goat unit of 15+1 animals through a financing structure consisting of a 30,000 INR loan from NCDC, 63,000 INR subsidy, and 7,000 INR beneficiary contribution
